Morning Jumpstart

I don’t know about you, but personally, I like to ease into my day. After all, the sun doesn’t just burst onto the scene every morning with a thunderous shout, no, it rises slowly, quietly, gently.  Thin, golden rays slipping around the corners, throwing light on the possibilities and promises of a brand new day– just for us!  To make the most of that day, we must start it off in the best way possible; coffee–that goes without saying, and maybe a slice of toast, a bowl of fresh fruit, something to wake us up, get us moving, and out the door.

I simply refuse to start my day without using J.R.LIGGETT’S Shampoo Bar. It wouldn’t feel right using anything else, as this, like so many other things in my life I’ve come to love, just fits.  You know the feeling… a favorite pair of jeans, a coffee mug with the perfect shape, weight, and handle, your most comfortable pair of shoes, the shirt that feels good, looks even better, and when you wear it, results in tons of compliments. Or take your car… you know how it runs, you know it’s idiosyncracies, you know it’s dependable and has faithfully helped you reach your destination… that kind of feeling. You don’t want to give it up, and nothing you’ve come across in all these years can even come close to replacing it. Yeah, like that!

Some folks might claim J.R.’s Shampoo Bar is nothin’ special. They might say it doesn’t make a bit of difference what you use, that Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is no big deal—most liquid shampoos, soap, and  shower gels contain it, and besides, they’ve been using these products for years… why switch now?  To me, that sounds a bit foolish… like saying I’ve been living on fried foods and no vegetables for 30 some odd years, or saying I’ve been smoking for 20 years while plopped in my recliner… the damage is already done, why change now?  Well, what’s the tipping point?  When is too much of a bad thing, a bad thing?  Research has shown that over time, SLS is absorbed into the skin, and personally, I’m not interested in taking any more chances on absorbing any more of this harsh detergent into my body. I’m counting on beating the tipping point to the finish line. I’m going to use J.R.LIGGETT’S Shampoo Bar from here on out, every day.

And if I’m away from home, hey, no problem! With J.R.LIGGETT’S ‘e-Z pouch’, ‘A Natural Traveler’, or the Mini Traveler, I won’t have to concern myself with being without my Shampoo Bar.  See? Another thing that ‘fits’ into my life. Another comfortable, ‘can’t do without, won’t do without’, cause it’s been proven to make my life easier, simpler, safer, and healthier.

Give up your excuses as to why you just can’t get a move on in the morning… put on something that fits!

J.R. explains ‘The fit’, seems he’s into it too!

I needed a broom. You know the sort… the one with the sturdy, wooden handle, tightly woven natural straw bristles, the hard-working, old-fashioned kind that last and last, the ones that are dependable.

My husband volunteered to pick one up while he was running other errands. I told him what I needed; I showed him my other one, the straw worn down next to nothing, although still somewhat useable and  intact. He came home, so proud of himself for choosing a more modern broom–lightweight plastic handle, plastic bristles, pretty color, and he added, “Less expensive!”

It was time to put the broom to work;  yes it was pretty… wasn’t what I asked for, wasn’t what I wanted or expected, but we’ll see what she can do… what she’s made of. On the second sweep, the broom broke.  I had barely used any pressure, and it just snapped in two! Oh sure, it was a ‘light-weight’ alright, and definitely cheap!  I returned the broom to the store, and the saleslady asked, “Do you want to go get another one?” I said, “No! I want something made in America!”

‘Made in America’ has always stood for quality. Sturdy construction. Sound design. Quality parts.  Well-thought out ideas– a ‘Zen’ of thinking from beginning to end. It’s tough to find American made products these days… we have to search them out, make a concentrated effort, but it is soooo totally worth it.

Take note: J.R.LIGGETT’S Shampoo Bar and products are totally, and lovingly hand-made in America…  J.R. has literally poured his heart and soul into each shampoo bar from the mixing of each formulation specific bar, to the heating, drying, hand cutting, and wrapping.  He uses  the best oils; skin softening  Jojoba, anti-oxidant Rosemary, anti-septic and anti-fungal Lavender, Tea Tree to battle skin infections,  moisturizing Almond oil,  invigorating peppermint oil, Aloe Vera for minor skin irritations, and the list goes on.  The bar contains no SLS (Sodium Laurel  Sulfate, a very harsh, stripping detergent), is not tested on animals, nor contains animal products. Just 100% AWESOME!

Each Shampoo Bar is so natural, so healthy, so pure (made with fresh, sparkling clean, New Hampshire spring water), so completely bio-degradable from the beginning to the end, that something as good as this–as good for us as this, is fortunately for you and me, Made in America! Frankly, I feel like shouting that out!  We are proud of that!

Lucian Tielens realized the importance of quality when he spoke of  using just about anything within arm’s reach that produced suds to wash his hair… “I’ve run the gamut and used pretty much anything you can think of to wash my hair at one time or another, so I came to appreciate a good quality hair product.”

Shrunken clothing, ripped seams, broken tools, brooms snapped in two… useless, cheap, throw-away items that don’t work, don’t do the job promised, and don’t perform are a waste of my time and money.  J.R.LIGGETT’S Made in America shampoo bar is quality personified. It’s what I reach for while by-passing the 3 for $4 ‘deal’ on the store shelf, because I know this shampoo bar delivers from every angle.  No broken promises, satisfaction guaranteed, and it will definitely sweep you off your feet!

Old Fashioned?

Freshly Baked Apple Pie

Mom’s apple pie. Rocking chairs. The Ford Corporation’s Mustang.  The ‘Little Black Dress’. What do these have in common?  Tried and true.  Classic.  Longevity.  Staying power.

The description, ‘old fashioned’ often causes us to quickly dismiss a way of thinking or an object without even giving it a fighting chance. For others, the term, ‘old fashioned’ brings to mind comforting, fond memories of childhood, family, or a special possession we owned.

When the tattered,  ‘home-grown’, handwritten Old New England recipe for J.R.Liggett’s shampoo bar first fluttered to the ground  from the pages of an old recipe book  he had discovered, without a doubt, I would imagine that besides his curiosity, the words, ‘old fashioned’ came to mind. A shampoo bar?  Sounds like an odd concept, but upon consideration, an idea that we might quickly and foolishly dismiss, turns out to be quite ingenious.

Made 100% by hand the ‘old fashioned’ way ( I love the hand-crafted evidence on the bar surface–the occasional nick or dent–truly hand-made!), from the meticulous measurements to mixing, heating, pouring, and cutting, J.R.LIGGETTS’ Shampoo Bars have been tried by thousands and found to be true… true to his ‘down home’, ethical, honest business practices, and his philosophy of conscience and integrity—ideas highly valued by our parents, grandparents, and those before them. Values that are still highly desirable and sought-after today. Great values and a strong work ethic never go out of style.

Wisdom, practicality, stretching our dollars… all are closely held beliefs that aren’t subject to trends or fads, they are beliefs that are “in style”.  Wisdom is given to those who seek, think, explore, discern, and learn.  J.R. designed a small, functional wooden rack to rest the shampoo bar on and to keep it dry between use–no languishing in water to slowly waste away… a practical and useful way to stretch your hard-earned money… to make it go further–for longer.

We are reminded of the familiar adage:  “Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without.”  Old fashioned? Yes… happily and thankfully so.

hand holding single shampoo bar

You’ve heard it before, but it bears repeating. J.R.LIGGETT’S Shampoo Bars make life simple.

What I hold in my hand has the power to replace up to four other skin care products that may be crowding your storage shelves, shower stall, or bathtub.    This shampoo bar does not contain the harmful chemical Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, a harsh detergent that strips your hair of its natural, needed oil… therefore, you can give your plastic bottle of thick, liquid conditioner the old heave-ho.

Due to it’s mild composition of 100% pure, natural oils containing lavender, almond, jojoba and other moisturizing oils, the shampoo bar is an excellent choice for a facial cleanser. I like things quick and easy, so when I shampoo, I use the extra suds to wash my face, yes, it’s that gentle! I chucked all my specialized (and expensive!) facial washes in the trash–never to be bought again!

This last winter season, was the first winter in my entire life I did not have to deal with tight, dry skin and I unequivocably attribute that relief to replacing my previous SLS laced bar of body soap with the use of the shampoo bar.  I mean, it’s already in your hand… you’ve washed your hair with it, used the extra suds on your face… good grief, just keep going!

Shave cream is no longer necessary.  The shampoo bar lathers on so smoothly and rinses so cleanly–leaving behind a soft, not slick feeling.  You’ve saved yourself beaucoup amounts of time by simply using one product, right in the shower!

And a few words of advice here, many highly popular body washes on the market today that claim to be ‘moisturizing’… flip them over and read the ingredients: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, sodium this, sodium that, dyes, alcohol, stacks of unpronounceable ingredients… gads!  And we’ve rubbed this stuff on our skin for years? J.R.LIGGETT’S Shampoo Bars contain no weird, unpronounceable ingredients!  Like they say, “Buyer Beware!”

Conditioner, facial cleanser, body soap, shave cream–all nothing but a bad memory… but as I am writing this, I remembered that J.R.LIGGETT’S Shampoo Bar replaced another product I used religiously for years—body lotion. I mean, there was no way I was going to go through a cold, dry indoor air winter without body lotion, but after using the shampoo bar for my entire body, not only was my face not feeling chapped, the rest of my skin was smooth, moisturized and soft.

Are you with me here? Do you see all the products that we thought we needed–were told we needed by the advertising industry, aren’t really necessary if you simply hold JR’s shampoo bar in your hand!  Do you realize the money you are saving by simply purchasing just one shampoo bar verses a liquid shampoo, facial wash, body soap, shaving cream and body lotion? It’s not rocket science! It’s simply, simple.
